Christoffer Walther Christiansen
17-02-1994 * 25-02-2020
Your life was way too short!
You were a fantastic person, an amazing son, and an unforgettable brother.
You did put so much impression on everyone you met in your short life.
YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!
Christoffer was born on the 17th of February 1994 in Hvidovre hospital.
You lived with your parents in a two-room apartment on Amager in the first year of your life.
You were a lovely and a happy boy.
You moved to Tisvilde on the 1st of August, and you became a big brother on the 26th of October.
Even though you were different about many things, you have always stick together as brothers.
In the last part of your life, you became close because you had your younger brother at your side for the last months of your life.
As a small child, you had your grandparents to take care of you. Later you started in daycare and kindergarten.
Your elementary school was at Tisvilde school.
You used your spare time on MTB cycling, soccer, and other sports.
You were a talented athlete, but there was something you would rather do.
You started showing interest in computers even from a young age,
and you have spent many hours behind a computer monitor.
That has been one of the reasons that you get to achieve a lot of great experiences in your short life.
You got friends over the internet, both from Denmark and from foreign countries.
Many were even so close so that you went out to meet them in their countries.
After elementary school, you went to high school in Hillerød HTX, with a specialty in IT.
But that was not enough you wanted more with IT.
You decided to investigate the possibilities to study IT in the USA.
You traveled to Mississippi to see the conditions at Southern Miss University in Hattiesburg.
When you came home, you told us that you wanted to travel to the USA to study IT Technology,
and you have found a wonderful girl that you wanted to live with.
We have, as parents, always supported you and gave you the backing you deserve.
It was tough the first time we went to Copenhagen airport, to get you on a plane towards New Orleans.
But we knew that it for the right thing for you.
The four years at the University went fantastic, and you had some great teachers, and you made good friends.
You were at the top of your classes, and when you finished your studies,
you were greeted with “highest honor,” which only a few students achieve.
We were so proud to be your parents when we were watching you be graduated.
That is something that we will never forget.
In the four years you were studying, you were in Denmark every summer,
because that was a deal that you had made with your mom when you decided to move to the USA.
While you were in Denmark, you had a summer job to earn money for your study.
Also, here you left a significant impact in a good way. All the places you worked, you were always praised for your work.
While you were studying, your dad had an opportunity to come to visit you.
He made a deal with Carrie, your girlfriend, that you were not supposed to know about the visit.
He wanted to surprise you.
You and Carrie had agreed to meet at the University.
Y’all were at Starbucks at the University,
you had your back against your dad so that he could walk up to you without you seeing him,
so when you turned your back, he was right behind you.
The look and the hug you gave your dad that day is something that he will never forget.
Luckily he made a video to keep that memory forever.
You and your dad had three fantastic days.
You showed him the University, the town of Hattiesburg, and Carries family.
Something that your dad will never forget.
Besides your studies, you also did social work at the University.
You helped other students and teachers while you took care of your study.
That was just you, always helpful.
When you were about to finish your study,
you were forced to decide whether to stay in the USA or return to Denmark.
You had your student visa, but you also had the opportunity to get a two-year work visa,
if you could find a job related to your studies.
You started your job search, and you used guidance concealer at the University.
You were advised to go on a fare where there was an opportunity to find a job.
You talked with dad on the phone while you were there, and you didn’t sound optimistic about the fare.
Just before you planned to leave, you met a guy named Chris Bullock.
This would, later on, show to be an essential meeting and Chris is someone that you were very grateful for meeting that day.
Chris Bullock was Head of IT at a company named Yak Access, which would show to be an extraordinary company.
Yak Access was grateful for the work you did both personally and professionally.
Always helpful, even with a task that was not directly assigned to you, because that was just the way you were.
You and your dad talked together almost every day. You called him while driving towards work to talk about the tasks you were doing.
You also started to work out at work,
where you showed some good results and got a good relationship with the trainer,
and did an excellent job to get more of your coworkers to start working out.
Then the day comes when you called to tell that you had stomach pain…
The 28th of June
You were in Pennsylvania with a coworker you should check something with the app,
that you were a part of developing at Yak Access.
On the way home, the stomach pain started to get worse.
It was almost too bad that you could not drive the way home from the New Orleans airport.
You contacted a doctor, and he looked at you and at first thought that it was constipation.
But you still had pain on Saturday, so you went to the hospital.
You were scanned at the hospital, and they found a cyst on your gut.
You got scheduled for an operation on the 3rd of June 2019.
Carrie, your girlfriend, called us. She was utterly broken to tell us that the doctor has diagnosed you with cancer.
Melanoma stage 4
The world broken down, our lovely son and brother had been diagnosed with cancer at the age of only 25 years.
Your mom and dad booked a trip immediately to come to visit you at the hospital,
to give you support and to have some time with you.
Your brother booked a trip later on, to support you with the treatments.
The next eight months were an emotional rollercoaster.
You and your brother became very close, and you had a lot of great moments together.
You went through a lot of different treatments, but sadly none of them was able to cure you and kill the cancer.
On the 28th of January, were you together with your girlfriend and your brother,
for the last talk with your doctor at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The world just didn’t know any medicine that could cure you.
You were told that it was now a matter of weeks.
We were glad that we were able to be with you in the last weeks of your life.
You turned 26 years old, and you were celebrating the day at the same restaurant,
that you have done it for the last six years that you got together.
You passed away early in the morning on the 25th of February 2020
Christoffer, you will always be in our hearts, and you will never be forgotten.
We love you, and you will always be missed.
A great thanks to all who are thinking of us and helped us,
and are still helping us get through this challenging path of our lives.
We really appreciate that
In honor of the memory of Christoffer.
